£100,000 + Gift Aid raised for Amy’s fund so far!

Andrew and Row For Amy would like to thank everyone who has donated to Amy’s fund at Cardiac Risk in the Young so far. £100,000 is an incredible amount of money that will be used to test many children and young adults for undiagnosed heart conditions. This money will save lives.

Andrew has done incredibly well in his first 8 days, covering a distance of nearly 400 miles. Yesterday he rowed 73 miles which is a great distance for a solo rower! As expected he suffered from bad seasickness for a few days but is now managing to stock up on vital calories to give him enough energy to get him through the tough days of rowing. The conditions are very strong out there and he has experienced what he called ‘enormous waves’. He is having problems with the autohelm meaning he is manually steering his way across the Atlantic for now until calmer seas allow him to try and fix it! The initial shock to the system is easing, he is managing to get into a great rhythm and is acclimatising to being out at sea alone on a 22 foot rowing boat.

Andrew is hoping to get images and videos back as soon as possible, however he is experiencing a few signal teething issues with the BGAN satellite device which allows him to send back footage. We’ll keep you posted when he does!

Thank you,
