ABOUT ROW FOR AMY

In early Spring 2023 Andrew Osborne successfully completed his 3000 mile row across the Atlantic ocean, solo and unsupported, to raise money for the Amy Osborne Memorial Fund at the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young. The row took 78 days starting in Gran Canaria on 8th January 2023 and finishing in Antigua on March 27th. Through Row for Amy, Andrew raised nearly £200,000 for the charity and has already started the heart screenings around the country to test children and young adults.

Amy Osborne, Andrew’s youngest daughter died in her sleep six years ago from an undiagnosed heart condition at the age of 25. She became one of the 12 young people who die each week in the UK from this cause. Like Amy, 80% don’t experience any symptoms. Amy’s memorial fund set up by Andrew’s family at the charity CRY has so far tested nearly 700 children and young adults for undiagnosed heart conditions. The money raised will also be used to fund vital research and raise awareness to help save lives.

Row For Amy
If I can raise enough funds for CRY to test hundreds of children and therefore prevent the tragic loss to a family of a much loved child, then it will have all been worth every pull on the oars and every mile of the journey.
